FILM NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCED FOR THE 5TH ANNUAL LATINO ENTERTAINMENT JOURNALISTS ASSOCIATION FILM AWARDS
“EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE” LEADS WITH A RECORD-BREAKING 16 NOMINATIONS
“GUILLERMO DEL TORO’S PINOCCHIO” LANDS NINE NOMS, INCLUDING A FIRST FOR ANIMATED FEATURE DIRECTOR GUILLERMO DEL TORO, WHO RECIEVES THE 2023 LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD.
(January 22, 2023) – The Latino Entertainment Journalists Association (LEJA) announced today the film nominees for the fifth annual LEJA Film Awards.
This year’s film nominees are led by A24’s “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” which earned a record-breaking 16 nominations including: best picture, director, actress, supporting actor, two for supporting actress, original screenplay, production and set design, cinematography, costumes, editing, hair and makeup, sound design, visual effects, musical score, stunt design, and casting.
The members have also selected Guillermo del Toro to receive the 2023 Rita Moreno Lifetime Achievement Award. Past recipients have included Rita Moreno, Rosie Perez, Jennifer Lopez, and John Leguizamo.
Winners will be announced via LEJA social platforms (@LEJALatino) on Sunday, Feb. 19 at 12:00 pm PST.

The 2023 Rita Moreno Lifetime Achievement Award
- Guillermo del Toro – The highest honor for a career that has exemplified Latino excellence, Guillermo del Toro has been a tireless advocate of cinema, in all its beautiful forms. Never tied to a single genre, he’s made an indelible impression in Hollywood with various ambitious endeavors such as “Cronos” (1992), “Mimic” (1997), “The Devil’s Backbone” (2001), “Hellboy II: The Golden Army” (2008), “Pacific Rim” (2013) and “Crimson’s Peak” (2015). An multi-nominated and winning Oscar recipient, his most recognized contributions have been “Pan’s Labyrinth” (2006), “The Shape of Water” (2017), “Nightmare Alley” (2021) and “Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio” (2022), for which is nominated for nine LEJA Film Awards including best picture and director. He’s the first director of an animated feature to be nominated by the organization. The Latino Entertainment Journalists Association salutes the Mexican auteur, and look forward to more stunning work throughout his lifetime.
