CRITICS CODE OF ETHICS AND CONDUCT
AS A MEMBER OF THE LATINO ENTERTAINMENT JOURNALISTS ASSOCIATION (LEJA), PLEASE READ AND OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING STANDARDS AND GUIDELINES:
Members of the Latino Entertainment Journalists Association are expected to uphold and honor the journalistic integrity and ethics of professional journalists across all mediums of publication including, but not limited to: broadcast, print, radio, online and social media.
PLAGIARISM
We will not allow or tolerate any form of plagiarism. If you are found to have plagiarized any work you will be removed from membership and will not be allowed to return in any capacity from the organization in perpetuity.
HARASSMENT OF ANY KIND WILL NOT BE TOLERATED
Every member will treat others with respect. Anyone found to have committed harassment of any kind will be asked to leave the organization. This includes, but is not limited to, sexual harassment, bullying or offensive behavior.
OUTLET REPORTING / FREQUENCY
Every member is required to update and keep their outlet current. Our industry has seen significant losses – particularly to our already underrepresented Latino/a/e community – and as a result, we know the number of opportunities for reviews/interviews of Latino/a/x work has fluctuated. We are therefore accommodating any members who have seen a drop in the frequency and or/prominence of their publications. We however, cannot be flexible about your outlet. If we find discrepancies and you do not address immediately, you will be removed from LEJA and asked to reapply under your new outlet when annual membership opens. If you are found to have reported false numbers or frequency then you will be removed immediately and asked not to reapply. If you need to update and/or add a new publication (or report a change in your frequency), please reach out to us.
