Felix Caraballo
Metro Puerto Rico
Felix Caraballo’s love affair with film began at the age of five, the moment the opening crawl of Star Wars (1977) lit up the screen. That childhood spark ignited a lifelong passion that would shape a prolific career spanning over two decades in film journalism and criticism.
Armed with a Bachelor’s degree in Public Communications from the University of Puerto Rico (1995), where he honed his skills in journalism, screenwriting, and production, Caraballo took his first professional steps into the world of film critique via radio. His sharp insight and eloquent commentary quickly opened doors, leading to his coverage of major film premieres and, notably, his first interview with Academy Award-winning director Alfonso Cuarón during the Harry Potter press tour—a milestone published in one of Puerto Rico’s leading newspapers.
Since then, Caraballo has carved out a distinguished path as one of the island’s most respected voices in film. He became only the second Puerto Rican film critic to be regularly invited to international press junkets—an honor he has maintained for the past 25 years. Over the course of his career, he has conducted more than 500 interviews with film industry luminaries, contributing to TV, print, radio, and online platforms alike.
Today, Caraballo serves as CEO of Metro Puerto Rico, the island’s edition of the world’s largest free newspaper, where his weekly film reviews and interviews reach audiences far beyond local borders. His work has been syndicated across the globe, from Russia and Finland to Colombia, Mexico, Ecuador, and the United States.
Recently certified as a Rotten Tomatoes critic, Caraballo continues to expand his reach. In addition to his print and digital contributions at Metro and www.metro.pr, he leads film segments on some of Puerto Rico’s top-rated media programs, including Telemundo PR’s Hoy Día PR and the popular radio show What’s Up on La Nueva 94.7 FM, broadcast in both Puerto Rico and Orlando, Florida.
Whether behind a microphone, in front of a camera, or between the lines of a written review, Felix Caraballo remains a steadfast advocate for the power of cinema—bringing stories from Hollywood and beyond to audiences with insight, passion, and an enduring sense of wonder.
